Being a regional, cultural and economic hub, Mombasa has a prominent port and an international airport. It is an important regional tourism center. Situated on the east coast of Kenya, Mombasa's bordering the Indian Ocean made it a historical trading center, and was successively controlled by many countries due to its strategic location.
Administratively, Mombasa is the capital of Mombasa District. Its beach front hotels appeal to travelers in search of sun, sand and various exciting beach activities as other water engagement in magnificent swimming pools in the leading beach hotels.

The Arab, Indian and colonial European heritage makes up a wide variety of sights to see. It is cosmopolitan in both ethnicity and religious composition. Kenyans of different descent - Africans, Asians, European and Asians who are Muslims, Christians, Hindu and Buddhists are united by a common coast culture-Swahili. It is a hybrid of the intermarriage of these diverse people. Mombasa city has lots of hotels of all classes to choose from. There is a variety to choose from staying at the centre of town or in either side from the mainland thus North coast & South coast.
